Types of Tissue that Make Up Our Body

Displaying IMG_4572.JPGExocrine Glands are salivary or sweat glands, which produce the product through a vessel onto an epithelial surface.

Displaying IMG_4561.JPG Basement Membrane is a delicate membrane of protein and fibers. Tattoos are injected below the Basement Membrane.
Displaying IMG_4567.JPGStratified Squamous Epithelium is found in high wear or tear. The lining of the mouth is covered with stratified squamous epithelium.
Displaying IMG_4569.JPGAdipose Tissue forms a thick layer under the skin.Adipose tissue is located in several places, one place is the eye-socket, posterior to the eyeball.
Displaying IMG_4570.JPGFibrous Connective Tissue forms very strong structures which are called the ligaments and tendons. The structure of my hands represents the ligaments and bone structure.

Displaying IMG_4574.JPGDense Connective Tissue has two types, irregular and regular.Dense irregular tissue includes submucosa and dermis and dense regular tissue includes ligaments, tendons (tendons attach skeletal muscles to bones) , and aponeurosis.
Displaying IMG_4575.JPGSkeletal Muscle Tissue is separated into fifteen different categories. The category I chose was Skeletal Muscles of the Nose: Procerus.  The Procerus is an area on the forehead located medial to the eyebrows; which causes a wrinkle.
Displaying IMG_4576.JPGHyaline Cartilage is a type of body tissue. Its mainly seen as a bluish-grey color with no nerves or blood vessels. Hyaline Cartilage is the prototype of skeletal bones in the fetus (Frances' stomach).
Displaying IMG_4577.JPGEpithelial Tissue covers the whole surface of the body.Basically the first skin layer.
Displaying IMG_4580.JPGBone Tissue(Osseous)is the major supportive structure for connective tissue.Osseous makes up the skeletal part.

Types of Tissue that Make Up Our Body

The Tissue Level of Organization

Take a picture of examples of the following types of tissue found within the body.  When I say collect,  I mean you need to collect an item by finding an example and then take a picture of that item that best fits the given terms.  You will post your photographs with corresponding explanations in your own words.  You do not need to find the exact item on the list, say for example, basement membrane.  The ink of tattoos must be injected below the basement membrane.  You must apply the the term to a type of tissue.

Tissue vocabulary - some terms are more specific than others.
1. exocrine glands
2.stratified squamous epithelium
3.  basement membrane
4.  adipose tissue
5.  fibrous connective tissue
6. dense connective tissue
7.  skeletal muscle tissue
8.  hyaline cartilage
9.  epithelial tissue
10.  bone tissue(osseus)

Criteria:
ORIGINAL PICTURES ONLY- You cannot use an image from any publication or the Web.  You may only use an original picture once.

BLOG ITEMS - You must define what term you are using and explain specifically where the tissue is found within your item.

TATTOO - All pictures must have an element of identity so that they are recognized as original i.e.,  a bracelet, an i.d. card.  Be creative but this item cannot dominate the picture.

DUE DATE:  Blog posts must be submitted on or before Monday , November 10, 2014 at 11:59pm.  No exceptions

If you are having technical difficulties, please submit concerns in advance via harris.jawan@gmail.com

This blog assignment is worth two quiz grades.
