Chapter 2 - Priya Should Find Out If She Has Inherited a Fatal Disease (or should she?)
6. Describe the disease Priya's mother had?
Priya's mother had Huntington's disease. it caused mood swings, and muscle spasms. there is a 100% percent fatality rate and it usually strikes people in there middle ages.
7. If you were Priya, would you get tested for this disease? Why or Why not?
Yes I would want to get tested because I would not want to put my love ones through the pain of watching me go through the
symptoms.=================================================================================================================================================================================================================
8. If Priya is tested and found to have the gene for the disease, who else has a right to know? (her family, her employers, her boyfriend...) Explain your answer.
if Priya has the gene then she can tell who ever she feels needs to know. But technically its is no ones right to know her medical status. unless she wants kids then she should tell her boyfriend, because of the hereditary nature of the disease.
9. What are the pros (good points) and cons (bad points) of having this genetic test performed?
The pros would be that you are aware if you have the disease or not and you would be aware for the future and can plan for it. The cons would be that if it turns out you do have you will lose the hope of not having it.
10. Chapter Vocabulary

mutation -change that occurs to the order of the bases appearing in the DNA inside a cell
Human Genome Project-  an international scientific research project with the goal of determining the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up human DNA, and of identifying and mapping all of the genes of the human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint.
