1. Approximately how many days from fertilization would your pig be if it measured 2 inches in length?( Hint: first, convert to cm.)

• 35-40 days till fertilization 

2. Why is the skin such an important organ? List 3 functions of the skin.

• It is a barrier to ultraviolet radiation, keep out harmful substances and disease-producing organisms, helps to prevent the loss of water from the body, aids in regulating the body temperature.

3. Why does inhaled air need to be warmed, filtered, and moistened?

• As air passes through the nasal cavities it is warmed and humidified

4. How do materials pass back and forth between the fetus and the mother?

• Substances pass back and forth between the mother's and fetus's blood through the placenta and cord. Oxygen and nutrients pass from the mother to the fetus.

5. What is the function of the hard palate?

• It is formed by the palatine process of the maxilla and horizontal plate of palatine bone, and spans the arch formed by the upper teeth.

6. How old was your pig? How did you determine the age and what was your length?

• Ariel and I pig 112 days old. We measured the length of the pig to determine the age of our pig. Our pig was 30 cm long.
