Pig Post #2- External Anatomy(Jasmyn & N'Dia)

Questions

1.   Approximately how many days from ferilization would your pig be if it measured 2 inches in length?( Hint: first, convert to cm.)

If the pig is 2 inches in length then the pig is 2 days from ferilization. 



2.  Why is the skin such an important organ?  List 3 functions of the skin.

Protection, Heat regulation,Excertion, Secretion, and Absorption are some functiona of the skin. Skin is important because it protects your internal organs, regulates your body temperature and tells how your body is doing.

3.  Why does inhaled air need to be warmed, filtered, and moistened? 

The air needs to be filtered because if your breathe in dirty air then it can damage your lungs. The air need to be warm because we have a body temperature regulator and if the temperature is not regulated, the body function is not optimize. 


4.  How do materials pass back and forth between the fetus and the mother?

The fetus is connected to the placenta by a tube called the umbilical cord. The cord contains two arteries and a vein. Blood and oxygen are pass through the placenta and cord. 

5.  What is the function of the hard palate?

The hard palate separates the oral and nasa cavaities, bordering the oral cavity superiorly and forming the roof of the mouth and the nasal cavity inferiorly forming its floor.

6.  How old was your pig?  How did you determine the age and what was your length? 


Our pig was at birth. We determined the pig's age by measuring the pig from head to toe in centimeters. Our pig was 30cm long.
